I am from the San Francisco-Bay Area, and received a B.A. in Sociology from U.C. Berkeley. After college, I sought experience in filmmaking, taking internships and jobs, which gave me hands-on work as a script reader, PA, camera assistant, and coordinator. During that time, I interned for Academy Award winning producer Michael Phillips (The Sting, Taxi Driver, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind), and also worked on projects involving Kirk Douglas, Dan Aykroyd, Jenny McCarthy, and football all-pro Deion Sanders.
In 2001, I enrolled in the USC School of Cinema-TV, eventually earning a M.F.A. in Film/TV Production. My stay at USC was very fulfilling, and looking back, I value two things the most. First, was having a group of peers to both collaborate with, and to share in the challenges of filmmaking. Second, was having the time to reflect upon, and then to define my intent as someone entering the world of cinema, television, and media arts. Now, as a filmmaker, my goal is to seek out great stories of human relationships, and to present the truthful expression of those relationships to the audience. I believe that when filmmakers commit to successfully negotiating the tenuous balance between art and commerce, they can create films that both entertain and enlighten.
My USC thesis film ROGUE 379 has been well received and has provided a showcase for many of its cast and crew. Cinematographer Joseph White won the ASC Heritage Award for his work on Rogue 379. Lead actor Todd Cahoon went on to the lead role in Watch Over Me, a 66 episode TV series that aired on Fox Television's My Network TV last fall (2006). I am currently making the film festival circuit run with Rogue 379, while also developing feature film and TV projects. I hope to continue writing, directing, and seeking out those great stories that will inspire audiences . . .
